That October he painted a tall study of an avenue of poplars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2 class=\"story\"\u003eGlittering patches\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe described it to his brother Theo: yellow autumn leaves, the sun making “glittering patches here and there on the fallen leaves,” the long shadows of the trunks, and at the end of the road a peasant cottage under a blue sky.
