About our products

What we make, what it is made of, and how to choose.

How is the painting made?

It is digitally painted from your photograph in one of our house watercolour styles, then printed. It is a reproduction, not a hand-painted original on canvas — we would rather say so plainly than have you find out when it arrives.

What paper is it printed on?

Unframed prints are on 310gsm fine-art paper. Framed prints and framed canvases are printed on 189gsm matte stock behind the plexiglass. The unframed rung is the heavier paper of the two, which is worth knowing before you choose.

What are the frames made of?

Solid pine, in black, white, natural wood or dark wood, with shatterproof plexiglass rather than glass and hanging hardware already fitted. They arrive ready to hang.

What sizes do you offer?

8×10, 12×16, 16×20, 18×24 and 24×36 inches. There is a size guide on every product page showing them to scale against a room.

What photographs work best?

Daylight, taken straight on, with the subject filling most of the frame. A phone photo is completely fine. What does not work is very dark, very blurred, or so far away the detail is not there — and we will tell you before anything is made rather than after.

Can you paint more than one pet or person?

Yes. Send a photograph of each and tell us how you would like them arranged, and we combine them into one painting.

Can you add a name or a date?

Yes, at no charge — there is a caption field on the product page. It is painted in below the artwork in script.

Will the colours match my screen?

Closely, but not exactly. Every screen shows colour differently and paper is not backlit. The proof you approve is the reference.

How long will it last?

Pigment inks on archival stock, kept out of direct sunlight, hold their colour for decades. Direct sun fades everything eventually, including real watercolour.
